Wedding Organizer: Taking the Stress off Your Wedding Preparation

Executive Information on Wedding Organizer by John Arthur Thomas
December isn't just about the Christmas holidays.  It's also a fantastic month for romantic weddings.  As the first days of December usher in the summer season, two memorable celebrity weddings have delighted Australia.  3AW Radio's Tom Elliot and A Current Affair's journalist Elise Mooney gave their "birthday party" guests a night to remember when later into the evening, Tom, looking handsome in his suit, escorted Elise, who had changed into her beautiful wedding gown, for their surprise wedding that excited their family and friends.  Equally unforgettable is The X Factor judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte's late-afternoon wedding to her long-time partner Cameron McGlinchey in Melbourne, witnessed by the couple's intimate group of family and close friends.

You too can have a dream celebrity style wedding if you know where to go to find the best wedding resources.  The Wedding Robot can turn your dream wedding into a reality with their comprehensive directory of online wedding resources and no-cost, interactive wedding tools.

A To-Do Checklist for a Less Stressful Wedding Preparation
As the bride-to-be, you are free to organize the wedding event of your dream.  If you're busy but want everything to run smoothly, you can always seek the help of a wedding planner to help you.  But even if you hire a wedding planner, you still have to make sure everything's well prepared.  Have a wedding organizer that includes a checklist of all key areas of your wedding – the things you need to do, the budget and expenses, the suppliers and vendors, the schedules, and other important notes.  Here are some important time lines and check list that will make preparing for your wedding day even easier:
  • 12 months or more
    • Decide on type, style and theme of wedding.
    • List down what you consider are important for your wedding and their corresponding budget.
    • Check the ceremony requirements (church, synagogue, park etc.)
    • Choose at least 2-3 wedding dates.
    • Look and book for venues.
  • 9-11 months
    • Look for and book service suppliers and providers: photographer, videographer, caterer, officiating clergy, minister or celebrant, florist

    • Sign up for a gift registry.
    • Send the save-the-date cards.
  • 4-5 months
    • Finalize your flower arrangements with your florist.
    • Book wedding limo and other transportation services.
    • Start planning and designing the decorations.
    • Look for accommodations for out-of-town guests.
    • Choose or design your wedding cake and bomboniere.
  • 3 months
    • Finalize the guest list.
    • Meet with the officiating minister or celebrant to discuss ceremony details.
    • Choose thank you gifts for parents, bridal entourage and other helpers.
    • Have the male entourage fitted for their formal wear.
    • Buy the accessories and other items needed for the reception.
    • Start writing your wedding vows.
    • Start addressing invitations.
    • Finalize your honeymoon arrangements.
  • 2 months
    • Send out invitations.
    • Schedule a hair and make-up trial run.
    • Start buying/making bomboniere.
    • Obtain wedding license.
    • Schedule the gown and dress fitting.
    • Meet with vendors and suppliers to finalize arrangements.
    • Reserve room for wedding night.
  • 1 month
    • Work on reception seating arrangement.
    • Schedule a final wedding gown fitting.
    • Finalize wedding vows.
    • Confirm all final payment amounts, schedule, and other details with vendors.
In the couple of weeks before your big day, it is important to finalize all arrangements and tie up all lose ends. Also make sure that your bridal party knows times and dates of the events (hens/bucks nights, rehearsal dinner etc.) leading up to the wedding.
